In the case of marriage between Japanese and Moldovans , it is not so difficult to complete the marriage procedure in Japan, so it is recommended to complete the marriage procedure in Japan.

First of all, I will show you the flow of marriage procedures from the Japanese side.
◆ When the marriage procedure is done from the Japanese side
1. Moldovan citizens who want to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility for Marriage (Certificate of Singleness)
It is possible to obtain this certificate in person at the Moldovan Embassy in Tokyo. The certificate is issued within one week of the application and is valid for six months.

2. Submit a marriage registration to the municipal office in Japan

- A copy of the family register of a Japanese person (not required when notifying the government office of the registered domicile)

3. Report your marriage to the Embassy of Moldova in Japan
If you would like to obtain a spouse qualification visa, or if you are a Moldovan and want to change your name to the surname of your Japanese spouse, report to the Embassy of Moldova in Japan. Notification is required.

1. Japanese nationals obtain a Certificate of Eligibility for Marriage (Certificate of Singleness).
It can be obtained at any Japanese Legal Affairs Bureaus or Regional Legal Affairs Bureaus, but it is necessary to obtain an Apostille (official seal confirmation) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If you obtain it at the Japanese Embassy in Moldova, you can submit it directly, as it is written in the native language of Moldova and no translation is required.
If a translation is required, the document must be translated into Romanian or Russian and notarised by the Moldovan Legal Department.

2. Register for marriage at the government office that has jurisdiction over the place of residence of the Moldova people

3. Submit a “marriage registration” at the Embassy of Japan in Moldova, or at the municipal office in Japan.
Translate each two copies of the ID card and marriage certificate of the Moldova person into Japanese and translate them into Japanese within 3 months. Notify the municipal office in Japan.
