1. Each of the Japanese and Portuguese nationals must prepare the following documents and register the marriage with the Portuguese spouse’s family registry office.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25c6Necessary documents on the Japanese side (Please check in advance as they may differ depending on the family register storage office)<\/span><\/p>\n

Japanese passport
\nResidence permit for Portugal
\nOriginal birth certificate and its Portuguese translation (with apostille)
\nCertificate of Legal capacity to contract marriage (with apostille)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Required documents on the Portuguese side (may vary depending on the family register storage office, so please check in advance)<\/span><\/p>\n

After completing the formalities in Portugal, submit the marriage certificate to the municipal office of the city, ward, town or village where you are registered in Japan or to the municipal office of your domicile of residence (this can also be done at the Embassy of Japan in Portugal).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe original marriage certificate issued by the Portuguese Family Registration and Archives and its Japanese translation
